How many did you buy? One, seven, or ten?
Please tell me that you didn’t purchase ten different products for how to plan for massive success in 2019 that are still sitting…unopened…in your inbox.
If you’re like many of my clients, you’re so focused on where you’re going and what’s next that you haven’t given yourself permission to breathe and look for the gifts that you were given this year.
Gifts come in all shapes and sizes.
They come in the form of non-ideal clients or non-ideal team members.
They come in the form of product or offering flops.
They come in the form of unexpected expenses.
They come in the form of scars, bumps and bruises.
They come in the form of a year that allowed a substantially different amount of income than what was planned to flow through your business.
There is no “failure” as long as you’re willing to look for the lessons. The gifts.
How many times have you had something go differently than you planned (i.e. a client said “no” to working with you) and then you notice that within seconds your thoughts have shifted to how this is absolute proof that you will, in fact, be living under a bridge, eating ramen noodles within the next year?
How many times?
Ten times this month? Week? Ten times today?
What I’m about to share with you has the power to transform how you think, how you feel, and the results that you see in your life and your business.
Are you ready?
When you notice your energy and focus going in the opposite direction of where you want it to be (when you feel overwhelmed, frustrated, jealousy, doubt, pessimistic, blame…), I want you to pause. Take a deep breath and ask yourself these important questions:
What are the lessons for me here?
What can I learn from this experience?
If this wasn’t happening TO me, and it was happening FOR me, what opens up?
When you embrace the lessons and accept them as the gifts that they are, you’ll notice a new momentum in your business. A renewed energy.
Your energy follows your emotions so build your awareness around how you’re feeling every moment of every day.
It sounds too good to be true but when you intentionally shift your thinking in this way, you’ll notice a renewed focus and energy around your “work” (you’ll re-calibrate your day so that you’re focusing on revenue generating activities, things that give you energy and that you love doing.)
You’ll feel happier and more inspired, and you’ll attract more ideal clients with grace and ease.
If you only have minutes to invest in planning out what’s next for you in 2019, don’t waste it looking at where you’re going.
Nope, instead I want you to look back at the last twelve months. Look, I mean, really look for what went great and what went not-so-great.
From there, reflect on these questions:
What am I most proud of doing / creating /experiencing this past year?
What didn’t work?
5 biggest lessons?
What actions will I take next year based on the biggest lessons last year?
Investing a few minutes to harvest the lessons from the past year will pay for itself many times over. When you get clear on five of the biggest lessons that you were given this past year, take it a step further and brainstorm how you’ll leverage that learning and make 2019 even more magical.
